Dr. Calaveras (Callie) Cunningham
Veterinarian
My interests include orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, internal medicine and ultrasound. I completed the Don Low Ultrasound Fellowship at U.C. Davis in 2018 and have worked in the Orthopedics department at Oakdale Veterinary Group since 2023. I strive to provide the best quality of life possible to each patient; looking at the entire animal and its lifestyle, not just isolated problems.
A few years ago I moved back to my childhood home to raise our twins along with my husband, Mike; smashingly handsome felines, Moose and Catness; my troublesome terriers, Lula and Winston; and our much-loved garden-destroying chickens.
Dr. Lauren Hobstetter
Veterinarian
Dr. Lauren is a dedicated and compassionate veterinarian and has been serving the pet community since her graduation from Oregon State University in 2015 (Go Beavs!). Dr. Lauren shares her home in Angels Camp with her wife, Dr. Jules Wurzler, and their many animals, including dogs, cats, sheep, and a pot-belly pig. With a deep love for cats and dogs, Dr. Lauren has honed her skills in preventive and internal medicine, emergency care, and general soft tissue surgery, providing top-notch medical attention to her furry patients.
Dr. Lauren is thrilled to be an owner of 4 Paws Veterinary Group, where she looks forward to building long-lasting relationships with pets and the humans who love them. Her approach to veterinary care is marked by a genuine commitment to forming close connections with her clients, ensuring that both pets and their owners feel understood and supported.
In her personal time, Dr. Lauren enjoys spending time on their property, taking care of their olive trees and garden. She also loves paddle boarding, taking her dogs to the many nearby alpine lakes, attending local music events and concerts, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Dr. Jules Wurzler
Veterinarian, CVA, CVMMP
Dr. Jules was born and raised in mid-Michigan. She completed her undergraduate BA at Albion College in Albion, Michigan in 2011. She completed her doctorate of veterinary medicine degree in 2016 at Oregon State University. She began her career here in Calaveras County as a mixed animal doctor. In early 2019 she started her journey in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) with the Chi Institute in Reddick, Florida. She earned her certificate of veterinary acupuncture (CVA) at the beginning of 2020.
Since 2019, Dr. Jules has been providing her patients with alternative and complementary therapies to help bring them back to health or reduce their discomfort levels through the use of acupuncture and some herbal medicines. She has been a Certified Veterinary Medical Manipulation Practitioner since 2023. Dr. Jules plans to continue her education in TVCM over the next few years, taking more courses in herbal medicine and Tui-na (therapeutic massage). She recently completed a course at UC Davis through the Chi Institute in Canine Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, she will soon be certified in this as well.
Dr. Jules continues to practice Western medicine, providing an integrative approach when the occasion calls for it. Ask her about therapeutic options that may benefit your pet, whether it be acupuncture, therapeutic exercises and LASER, herbal medications, food therapy, or skeletal adjustments.
Dr. Jules only practices TCVM and Western medicine; she does not use essential oils, reiki, aroma therapy, or homeopathy.
Dr. Jules and her partner live locally on an olive ranch with many of their own animals of various sizes to look after. In her free time, Dr. Jules enjoys tending to the ranch, gardening, paddle boarding, camping, biking, brewing beer, and spending time with family and friends. Ask her where to buy their olive oil locally.
